چکیده

The aim of our project is to provide a real time non-intrusive driver drowsiness detection to prevent the rapidly growing accidents caused by sleepy or drunk driver. We are going to merge the 2 requirements for safe driving in a single equipment. The car does not function unless the two conditions of safe driving are satisfied. Bio signals, such as brain waves, pulsation waves, and heart beat are different between people who have and have not consumed alcohol. Similarly it is different for those who are brisk and those who are sleepy or suffer with fatigue. Currently, we are developing a non-invasive system to detect individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and fatigue by measuring bio signals. Two non-intrusive ECG measurement methods are developed for vehicle drivers, which will be used for drive drowsiness and fatigue detection. In the first method, each half of the steering wheel is wrapped with conductive fabric as electrode and is isolated from the other. In the second method, two pieces of conductive fabric with the same dimension are placed on the driver seat’s backrest as electrodes. Signal conditioning circuit and impedance matching circuit are specifically designed for each method. Results also show a change in the driver’s heart rate variability (HRV) with fatigue/drowsiness. And this system is non intrusive, that is it does not cause any disturbance to the driver.

Fusion of Optimized Indicators from Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Driver Drowsiness Detection

This paper presents a non-intrusive approach for monitoring driver drowsiness using the fusion of several optimized indicators based on driver physical and driving performance measures, obtained from ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant Systems) in simulated conditions. The paper is focused on real-time drowsiness detection technology rather than on long-term sleep/awake regulation prediction techno...

A Real Time Driver Drowsiness Detection System

Driving with drowsiness is one of the main causes of traffic accidents. Driver fatigue is a significant factor in a large number of vehicle accidents. The development of technologies for detecting or preventing drowsiness at the wheel is a major challenge in the field of accident avoidance systems. Due to the hazard that drowsiness presents on the road, methods need to be developed for countera...

Hybrid Drowsiness Detection System to Prevent Accident using Non-Intrusive Physiological Measures

In recent years, driver drowsiness has been one of the major causes of road accidents and can lead to severe physical injuries, deaths and significant economic losses. Since car accidents may be caused by the driver’s tiredness, there are some assistance systems designed for bringing the attention of a driver. In this paper, we review different measures and discuss its advantages and limitation...

Driver drowsiness detection based on non-intrusive metrics considering individual specifics.

OBJECTIVES Drowsy driving is a serious highway safety problem. If drivers could be warned before they became too drowsy to drive safely, some drowsiness-related crashes could be prevented. The presentation of timely warnings, however, depends on reliable detection. To date, the effectiveness of drowsiness detection methods has been limited by their failure to consider individual differences. Th...
